About Hemophilia
Hemophilia is a lifelong bleeding disorder that prevents blood from clotting properly. People with hemophilia do not have enough clotting factor, a protein in blood that controls bleeding. It is a condition for which there is no cure.
Hemophilia is usually inherited and about one in every 5,000 males is born with the disorder. It cannot be ‘caught’ or transmitted except through inheritance but can sometimes occur when there is no family history of hemophilia.
