Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals in Seattle, Washington
Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals presently operates four facilities in three communities in the greater Seattle area: Bothell, Lynnwood and Seattle. Employees at these locations are dedicated to the manufacture of Leukine® (sargramostim), a growth factor that helps fight infection and disease in appropriate patients by enhancing immune cell function.
The flagship facility of this supply center is a new manufacturing center in the early stages of licensure. Once complete and licensed by the US Food and Drug Administration, Bayer will consolidate all Leukine® supply operations to the new manufacturing center. This 95,000 square foot center is located on a 16-acre site in Lynnwood.

* LEUKINE® (sargramostim) is a recombinant granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhu GM-CSF) for use following induction chemotherapy in older adults with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) to shorten time to neutrophil recovery and to reduce the incidence of severe and life-threatening infections and infections resulting in death. Important Information
In controlled clinical trials across all indications, no significant differences were observed between LEUKINE® (sargramostim) and placebo-treated patients in the type or frequency of adverse events with the exception of an increase in skin-associated events in the LEUKINE group in the pivotal AML trial. There were occasional reports of fluid retention, dyspnea, supraventricular tachycardia, and laboratory abnormalities (increases in creatinine, bilirubin, and liver enzymes).
