Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals in Richmond, California
Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals' U.S. research center focuses on biotechnology and is presently located on a 53-acre campus in Richmond. Overlooking the San Francisco Bay, this location is ideal for recruiting new talent and collaborating with public or private institutions. Researchers here work to identify novel protein therapeutics and apply new scientific knowledge to improve two key Bayer biotechnology products Betaseron® and Kogenate® and advance new products in various indications with special emphasis on hemophilia and multiple sclerosis.
Bayer's research team works with scientists at the Berkeley campus, scientists who develop processes to manufacture complex biologics at clinical and commercial scale. This process science team works from a $100 million new clinical manufacturing center on the Bayer Berkeley campus. In addition to working on novel therapeutics discovered by Bayer internally, this team collaborates with Titan Pharmaceuticals on the development of one of the most advanced cell therapies, Spheramine, which is a product candidate presently in Phase 2 clinical study on Parkinson's Disease.
It's important to note that in the Bay Area, Bayer's R&D infrastructure includes a team of clinicians based in Berkeley who oversee clinical studies to improve the lives of individuals with hemophilia.
