Research Groups
There are three core groups which make up the Research organization:
Hematology Research
Kogenate ® FS is an integral part of Bayer’s portfolio with sales of €888 million in 2009. The Hematology Research group conducts both experimental as well as translational biology work for this product, including an exciting array of activities such as research into next generation versions and successor molecules, pharmacological investigations and mechanism of action studies. The group also conducts preclinical studies and supports clinical research on biologics in the area of hemostasis for the hematology franchise.
Biologics Research
The Biologics Research group plays the role of primary technology partner for the Hematology Research team. This team of industry-leading scientists conducts cutting-edge research in the area of protein engineering and modification to create improved versions of therapeutic proteins with special emphasis on those that mediate hemostasis. The team is also responsible for developing novel expression systems to insure that protein therapeutics will be efficiently produced for research and ultimately commercial use. The group is also involved in providing global bioanalytical assay and immunoprofiling support and identifying and developing next generation biologics across therapeutic areas.
Science Hub
Bayer is committed to the discovery and development of advanced therapeutics to serve unmet medical needs. Engaging with the broader scientific community and encouraging collaborative research projects with external scientists will help Bayer facilitate innovation and create opportunities for scientific breakthroughs. In addition to this, Bayer’s Science Hub will host and mentor post-doctoral fellows and visiting.
